Feed the Backpacks

This map showcases elementary school locations throughout northeast and central Florida and southeast Georgia, each with significant populations of Title 1 students living at or below the poverty level and who are food insecure.

These Pre-K to 5th-grade children qualify for a free lunch and/or breakfast meal daily in school, but are often left hungry and nutritionally deprived over the weekend. Hunger Fight's Feed the Backpacks program goal is to send each child home with a healthy 4-serving breakfast or dinner meal every weekend of the school year.

We want to fill empty tummies, helping kids to meet necessary daily nutritional requirements, enabling them to physically grow and cognitively develop. Access to weekend nutrition will help keep them healthy, focused and ready for school Monday mornings.

Our four-serving meal packages provide a breakfast, lunch or dinner and costs only $1.00, just twenty-five cents ($.25) per serving, providing a great meal for a family of four.

Feed the Need to Read

Hunger Fight’s Feed the Need to Read literacy program focuses on emergent literacy skills, specifically those to develop early learning and reading skills in children ages 0-5, by providing books to children for free. The cost of this program is only $30 for one year, and provides an age-appropriate book every month to a child.
